About

I draw lines because they help me grasp the moment.

At the heart of my artistic practice is the line as a means of expression in its own right. For me, the vertical line is the visual unit of the moment. Each moment becomes a vertical line, a record of its existence. Before I could write, my father and I covered colouring pages, newspaper clippings and telephone directories with lines. It was our way of communicating.

The question of infinity has stayed with me ever since: How can I comprehend infinity?

From this early fascination emerged the idea that we live in two dimensions of time: horizontal and vertical.
Horizontal time is the continuous flow of our lives. It is shaped by vertical time, the individual moment. Vertical time is consciousness: the now, falling into us like rain. The vertical line is part of infinity.

My practice as a visual artist developed organically alongside my work as a composer. I took on a studio and the scale of my work began to expand.

I work with brushes, ink and acrylic paint, drawing lines on canvas in both portrait and landscape formats. Alongside large-scale paintings, I create works on steles. As three-dimensional supports, they carry the line into space, extending it beyond the pictorial plane.

The moment is a line. The line is everything.

Framing

In collaboration with furniture designer Nikolaus Gläser, bespoke frames have been developed for the works. Their design reflects the formal clarity of the line-based compositions while extending the work into a spatial dimension. A precisely constructed shadow gap and carefully lacquered inner surfaces introduce an additional visual layer, allowing the frame and the artwork to enter into a deliberate dialogue that enhances the overall presence of the piece.

These frames can be produced on request to accompany a work.
